Recently, I saw a job posting from an employer who had recently lost an age discrimination lawsuit. The Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) statement at the end of the job posting read as follows:
[Employer] is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected Veteran status.
Ironically, Employer neglected to include age as an EEO category.
And as belt and suspenders – it’s best to include all of the required EEO categories on the Federal and state levels to ensure that your EEO job posting statements are compliant in business at and work.
