Values Alignment Equals Team Alignment in Business and at Work

I was honored to facilitate a strategic planning session for a wonderful nonprofit organization last week.

Identifying the organization’s values is the critical foundation to any strategic planning process.

As I took the group through the values identification exercise, I was further impressed at the clear alignment of their shared values – the speed and synchronicity with which they arrived at their organization’s values was impressive. It set the tone positively for the rest of the session – that values alignment also indicated the strength of the team alignment between staff members and board members – and those combined indicators made short work of drafting their strategic plan for the next 5 years.

How aligned are your organization’s values – and consequently, your organization’s leadership team – in business and at work?
